This Square
is located about half way up one of two mountains that surround Barcelona:
Tibidabo.
It can be reached by the tramvia
Blau which is taken at the end of Calle Balmes in Plaça
John Fitzgerald Kennedy. There are three night-time venues in Plaça del
Doctor Andreu which are also good viewpoints: the Mirablau, the Venta
and the Merbeyé. Also, on the upper part of the Square, on the mountain
side, it is possible to see the Tibidabo
funicular which
goes from Plaça del Doctor Andreu to the top of the mountain, where the
funfair is located. This was the first transport of these characteristics
to operate in the Spanish state (inaugurated on 29 October 1901) and the
journey covers 1,152 m

It
is the oldest of Barcelona (it dates from 1899) and currently occupies
a surface area of 70,000 ms with around 30 rides. The Automaton
Museum, the pioneer of the Park, remains from the former installation
(with a collection of 35 wonderful mechanical puppets). There is also
the renewed Aeromàgic, designed in 1935, and the aeroplane, which dates
from 1928.
Alongside
these older attractions, the Park also has the most modern rides, such
as the Tibidabo Express and the Viking. Next to the park is the Sagrat
Cor (Sacred Heart) church, a modernist temple of neogothic
inspiration begun in 1902 by Enric Sagnier and which took 60 years to
complete. Josep Miret Llopart was responsible for the monumental sculpture
of the Sacred Heart on top of the church

places of interest located on Tibidabo are:
Collserola
Tower: a telecommunications tower 288m high, inaugurated
on the occasion of the Barcelona Olympic games and designed by the American
architect Norman Foster.
The
Science Museum
is at Carrer Roviralta no. 55 and is undoubtedly the most visited museum
of the city, as the exhibition is based on visitor participation, which
makes it a very pleasant visit.
There is
also the Planetarium, where the
spectator can see the constellations by means of impressive visual effects.
