This is the first section of the Ramblas. It goes from Plaça de Catalunya to the corner of Santa Anna and Bon Succés streets.

It is the shorter in length than the other sections, and it's characterized by the Canaletes Fountain, one of the most important symbols of Barcelona. It was inaugurated in the 19th century and is a meeting point for Barcelona F.C. fans, the "culés", when they win a title. Legend has it that the traveller who drinks from this fountain will come back to Barcelona one day.

Another curiosity of this section of the Rambla was the so-called Pati del Carall. This was a building very close to the Canaletes Fountain, which preserved a prehistoric menhir.

Going down the Rambla toward the sea, the first road on the right is Calle Tallers, well-known for its new and second-hand record and musical instrument shops, without forgetting the restaurants with typical local cuisine.

A temple built in the 12th century, located to the left in Calle de Santa Ana. One of the most beautiful temples of the city.
