Montjuīc
Castle
is only 500 m from the funfair and is at a height of 170m on a rocky
terrace.
The
castle would appear to go back to the Middle Ages. Ferrer i Guārdia
and Lluís Companys, who was president of the Generalitat when the
Civil War broke out in 1936, were executed in its trenches.
It
was rebuilt in 1960 by the architect Joaquim Ros de Ramis. Part
of the rooms of Montjuīc Castle
are now home to the Military Museum,
where various arms and military contraptions from all ages and countries
are exhibited. However, the best attractions of Montjuich
Castle are the views of the city and port.
