PALAU RAMON MONTANER: DELEGACIÓN DEL GOBIERNO

This is located at Calle Mallorca no. 278 and is one of the few houses that survived the urban reform of the Eixample. In 1980 Marc Carbonell directed the fitting out work to turn it into the Delegación del Gobierno (Representation of the central government) in Catalonia .

CASA THOMÀS

Together with the Palau Montaner, this building is one of the architectural splendours of Calle Mallorca, being found at no. 291 of this street. Lluís Domènech i Montaner built it between 1895 and 1898 and it was the workshop and residence of the engraver J. Thomàs. After undergoing various restorations, those of the year 1979 were awarded the FAD restoration prize granted by the Town Hall of Barcelona and the National Restoration Award of the Ministry of Culture (1980).
