As its name indicates, it was designed in the Cerdà plan as cross link between the Eixample and the upper part of the city, and as a wide avenue where the upper middle classes could show themselves off, although it is now one of the main arteries of the city with very dense traffic.

CASA VIDAL QUADRAS: MUSEU DE LA MÚSICA

Building constructed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch between the years 1904 and 1906 and situated at Avinguda Diagonal 373, at the corner of Pau Claris. Since 1980 the Casa Vidal-Quadras has housed the Museum of Music, which exhibits a collection of musical instruments from the 16th century to the present.

It is the museum of music with the most and the best objects in Spain. You can see, for example, a saxophone made by its inventor, Adolphe Sax, and various popular instruments such as the Tenora (an instrument similar to the oboe) of the Catalan folklorist Pep Ventura.

CASA COMALAT

Located at Avinguda Diagonal 442 and designed by Salvador Valeri i Pupurull, who directed the building work between 1906 and 1911.

EL CARME CHURCH

Josep Domènech i Estapà built it in 1909. It is at Diagonal 424. It is the only church in Spain built in the image and likeness of Byzantine art.

CASA TERRADES: LES PUNXES

This is the most spacious building of the whole of the Eixample, a triangular-shaped property located between the streets Llúria and Bruch. It was built quickly by the architect Josep Puig y Cadafalch between 1903 and 1905. Casa Terrades was completely restored at the end of the 80s.
