Barcelona Town Hall originated in the Consell de Cent in the Middle Ages.

It is opposite the Palau de la Generalitat, in Plaza de Sant Jaume.

It dates from 1831 and its façade is in a Classicist style. The Mayor's office stands out, with paintings by Xavier Nogués, as does the Saló de Cróniques, the Escalera de Honor, with images of important historical figures such as Ausías March and Jacinto Verdaguer, and the Saló del Trentenari.
