At
the beginning of the Avinguda de Vilanova is the building of the
company Hidroeléctrica de Catalunya,
by the architect Pere Falqués, which dates from the year 1897.
At
the end of this landscaped avenue is the Estació
del Nord. It was designed by Pere Andrés, who built it
in 1864, and it was subsequently restored by Francesc de Paula del
Villar, A. Brianez (1880) and Demetri Ribes (the latter in 1912).
No
longer used as a railway station, it is now the central coach station
of Barcelona, a municipal sports centre (the biggest of the city),
and a municipal police station.
The
adjacent land has been rehabilitated as a park, designed by Enric
Tous and Josep Mª Fargas .
