The
Geology Museum, also known
as the Martorell Geology Museum,
is the third building on the Passeig dels
Til·lers, and the first municipal project expressly designed
to house a museum.
It
was designed by Antoni Rovira i Trias, who directed the construction
work between 1879 and 1882, and it has a clear classicist style.
The museum displays collections of petrology, mineralogy, and palaeontology,
and also houses fossils of animals and plants from 120 million years
ago.
